Refuge de la Traye Hotel

High-end mountain refuge in the heart of the Allues valley

Location
Meribel

Situated at 1650 metres on the Plateau de la Traye, this luxury refuge sits in a beautiful unspoiled area with exceptional views. Claiming to be the first high-end refuge in the French Alps, this isn't your average mountain hut.

First built in 1982, the refuge has been completely renovated and expanded in 2019. A seven-bedroom refuge, two mazots and a chalet make up this charming boutique accommodation deep in the mountains, boasting five-star facilities.

Rooms are, obviously, all ensuite and have been decorated in a warm and simple Alpine style with wood, faux fur and understated colours, all of them boasting breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. There are also two authentic Savoyard mazots with small living areas and an 80m2 chalet for up to 4 people.

There is also a gourmet restaurant, La Table de la Traye, serving regional cuisine, a smoking room with cigar cellar, and a gorgeous spa with a large selection of treatments and massages including milk bath, hay bed, sauna, steam room, Ishayi Dome sauna, water massage system, LED therapy and Stendo.

There are plenty of activities for the whole family including dog sledging, snowshoeing or mountain biking. Kids will enjoy entertainment and workshops, as well as a small farm and a games room. The refuge can be privatised for events and there's even a gorgeous chapel dedicated to Saint Bernard.

All of this in an eco-friendly estate with sustainable water and energy management systems (including solar panels and 4x4 electric vehicles), composting and waste compacting and use of local produce.
