featured in Towns & villages Updated

Méribel-Mottaret is a purpose-built resort dating from the 1970s. It shares Méribel’s chalet-style architecture but most of its accommodation is in the form of large apartment blocks and hotels. The resort is mostly car-free and much of the accommodation is ski-in, ski-out. It has a good selection of shops, services, bars and restaurants.

Méribel-Mottaret offers a good range of shops and services including a tourist office, cinema, nightclubs, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, bakers, estate agents, clothing and sports shops. It is divided into two large areas:

Le Laitelet is the larger of the two areas. It is situated on the western flank and extends from the village centre at 1,700m to le Hameau at 1,800m. This area is served by the free Chalets gondola lift which runs from 08:45 to 19:30 every day.

Le Chatelet lies on the eastern flank and so enjoys plenty of sunshine. The upper and lower parts are linked by an external lift.

Ski school meeting points are located at the foot of the village between the Laitelet and Chatelet areas and the French ski school’s Piou-Piou kindergarten takes children aged from three to five years.
