Snow Report 16th February 2026

By Nye Erskine, Updated

Half term week is in full swing in Meribel and the village has that lively but settled winter rhythm that comes with February. The trees around Chaudanne and up towards Altiport are well coated, and higher up the Saulire and Mont Vallon sectors are looking properly wintry after the recent top ups of snow. The season feels well established now, with a solid base across the Three Valleys and dependable cover right down into resort. Underfoot it feels like mid season conditions at their most consistent.

Snow and Weather Summary

Current snow depths are around 95 cm in resort at 1450 metres and approximately 210 to 230 cm on the upper slopes around 2700 to 2950 metres. Over the past week Meribel has seen around 15 to 25 cm of fresh snowfall above 2000 metres, with slightly lower totals in the village. This has refreshed the surface and improved coverage on steeper pitches and busier runs.

Daytime temperatures in resort have been ranging between minus 2 and plus 2 degrees, with overnight lows around minus 7 degrees. At altitude it has remained colder, generally between minus 9 and minus 4 degrees. The freezing level has fluctuated between 1500 and 1800 metres. Winds have been moderate on exposed ridges, particularly near Saulire, but lift operations have remained largely unaffected.

Skiing quality is best above 2000 metres where the snow remains dry and grippy, particularly on north facing slopes towards Mont Vallon and over into Courchevel. Lower down, especially on sunny aspects, the surface is firmer first thing and softens slightly through the afternoon. The base is strong across the whole area, giving reliable cover even on connecting runs back to Meribel Centre and Mottaret. Light snowfall is forecast again towards the end of the week, with current projections suggesting 10 to 20 cm at altitude, which should keep conditions fresh.

Outlook & What’s On

The outlook for the next few days is for mixed cloud and sunny spells, with further snow possible later in the week followed by a return to colder, clearer weather. If the forecast snow arrives as expected it will improve off piste potential once it has settled, particularly in higher bowls and on shaded aspects. Visibility may be reduced during snowfall periods but overall the pattern remains favourable for good mid season skiing.

In the village, the half term programme continues with family friendly activities, guided snowshoe outings and evening entertainment organised by the tourist office. The atmosphere remains busy but well managed, and the lift system is spreading skiers efficiently across the Three Valleys network.

Weather outlook as of: 16 February 2026. As I am sure you are aware, accurately forecasting weather more than two or three days ahead in the mountains is notoriously tricky. If there is a significant change we will update this section before the next full weekly snow report.

Snow Takeaway

Meribel is skiing well across all elevations, with the most consistent snow currently above 2000 metres. With a solid base and further snow forecast, conditions should remain reliable through the week, particularly on higher and north facing terrain.
