Meribel is feeling properly wintry at the moment, with the village surrounded by settled snow and the forests looking heavy and quiet after a solid January. From living here, it feels like the season has found its rhythm, with consistent conditions rather than dramatic changes. The mountains look well filled in, and skiing feels dependable day to day, especially once you get up above the tree line.
Snow and Weather Summary
Current snow depths in Meribel are sitting at around 220 to 240cm at altitude, with approximately 90 to 110cm in the village. There has been a light refresh of snow over the past week, generally around 10 to 20cm higher up, which has helped freshen the surface without changing the underlying base. Temperatures have stayed cold, with daytime highs on the mountain between -7 and -1 degrees Celsius and overnight lows well below freezing. The freezing level has remained mostly below 1400m, helping preserve snow quality across all elevations. Winds have been light to moderate, strongest on exposed ridgelines but rarely disruptive. Skiing is very good on higher and north facing slopes where snow remains dry and grippy, while lower pistes tend to be firmer early on and soften gradually through the late morning.
