What's on in Meribel this week 26th March 2017

This week is all about the Piste Bash Festival

Despite headliner Norman Jay being cancelled at last week’s Ronnie Loves Music Festival, the event was a huge success. With the use of The Rond Point’s more-than-spacious outdoor terrace, it seemed the perfect venue to host a week of incredible live music, bangin’ DJ beats and ultimate party vibes.

With weather predictions for more sunshine and glorious spring skiing days, this week it’s all about Meribel’s largest season event, The Piste Bash Festival.

Hosted and supported by multiple venues around resort, this year the festival is headlining Krafty Kuts, Chali 2NA, Lazy Habits, Ed Solo, Dutty Moonshine and The Mouse Outfit. Alongside endless supporting acts, local bands, stand-up comedy line-ups and plenty of food and drink deals throughout the week, it’s a party not to be missed and one we’ve been looking forward to all season.

Sunday 26th March

Sunday is the launch night of the festival and the best day to buy your festival tickets. Head to any of the participating venues and purchase a seasonaire wristband for €20 to receive €5 off door tickets, a festival t-shirt, plus 20% off food and drink for the duration of the festival.

Evolution is the perfect place to pick up a wristband and find out more info about the week to come with the venue’s ‘Steak and Cake’ deal happening this Sunday night. Grab a juicy sirloin steak, refreshing cocktail and café gourmand for €40 before watching the Leggomen play live from 10.30pm.

Monday 27th March

Monday the 27th is officially day one of the festival, kicking off with live jazz and funk band, Electric Spank at The Rond Point from 3pm. Soak up the last of the afternoon sun and dance to some fresh and funky sounds on the outdoor terrace while the Ronnie staff cook up a hog roast before the music starts.

For the ‘Meal Deal’ of the day, head to The Den and grab a bottle of wine with a serving of the restaurant’s famous duck pancakes for €30. Craft beers are on offer all night at €5.50.

Once dinner’s over head downstairs to O’Sullivan’s and catch resort resident DJ’s Bubble & Crisp from 11pm followed by The Mouse Outfit from 1am featuring DJ Sparkx and DJ Danz. Entry costs €5 with wristbands and €10 without.

Tuesday 28th March

Piste Bash

If you missed The Leggomen at Evo’s Sunday night, catch them at The Meribar on Tuesday 28th as they support Mr Woodnote from 3pm. Free entry and afternoon BBQ on offer to rival Scott’s Bar’s Tuesday ‘Meal Deal’ of burger + pint of beer for €15.

Sian Hayley Smith featuring live at Scott’s Bar for your evening acoustic gig followed by Electric Spank and Ed Solo in Doron Pub from 11pm. €10 entry fee with wristband and €15 without.

Wednesday 29th March

Friday 31st March

Piste Bash

Friday 31st of March marks the final day of The Piste Bash Festival. The grand finale will see an all day fancy dress party at The Chaudanne featuring music by Lazy Habits, Mr Clean, The Domino’s and The Meribel All Star Band. With the theme being ‘Under the Ski’ they’ll be prizes for best and worst dressed for all things nautical related. The party runs from 1-7pm and costs €5 with a wristband and €10 without. Sneaky tip; free entry for anyone who arrives before 3pm.

For those hungry hippos on the day they’ll be no need to venture away from The Chaudanne with a street food fiesta happening in the area from midday. You’ll be spoiled for choice with each bar contributing it’s own choice of cuisine and pop-up market stall. The street food fiesta will include stylish kebabs, hot dogs, ice creams, burgers and much more.

The official end-of-festival closing party will take place in the town square (in front of the tourist office) with an ultimate sound battle happening between DJ’s featured at La Taverne and L’Aubrevoir. Getting caught in the middle means being exposed to some of the loudest noises you’ve heard all season and a heated battle of base and beats.

To finish the day, Albenaza will be live at The Den from 10pm, Pete Cannon DJing from 1am at Doron Pub and Daisy B & Tom from 10pm for Open Mic Night at Scott’s Bar – all FREE events.
