Snow Report, 23 February 2026

By Nye Erskine, Updated

Meribel is looking very settled as we head into the final week of February, with the wooded slopes above the village holding good cover and the higher terrain towards Mont Vallon and Saulire looking properly alpine. The village has that familiar half term buzz, yet once you spread out across the Three Valleys there is still plenty of space to enjoy long, uninterrupted runs. The season feels well established now, with a strong base across the area and reliable conditions from top to bottom.

Snow and Weather Summary

Current snow depths are around 100 cm at resort level in Meribel Centre at 1450 metres, with between 180 and 220 cm reported on the upper slopes above 2500 metres around Mont Vallon. A light top up of around 5 to 10 cm fell over the past few days, mainly above 2000 metres, refreshing the surface without significantly changing the underlying base.

Temperatures have remained seasonally cool, with minus 8 to minus 4 degrees at altitude and between minus 2 and plus 3 degrees in the village depending on sunshine. The freezing level has generally hovered between 1500 and 1800 metres, dipping overnight and allowing the pistes to refreeze well. Winds have been mostly light, with occasional moderate gusts on exposed ridges but no widespread disruption to lifts.

On piste conditions are good across the domain. The higher north facing runs towards Mont Vallon and the Tougnète side are holding firm, grippy snow that remains consistent through most of the day. Mid mountain slopes are well groomed and ski smoothly in the mornings before softening slightly in sunnier spells. Lower returns into the village remain well covered, though they can become a little polished in busier areas by late afternoon. The links towards Courchevel and Val Thorens are skiing reliably.

Outlook & What’s On

The forecast suggests continued cool weather with a chance of light snowfall later in the week, particularly on higher ground. Any fresh snow would help maintain surface quality during the busy holiday period and keep conditions feeling wintry. Freezing levels are expected to remain appropriate for late February, which should support the lower slopes.

In resort there is a busy programme of events, with family activities, guided ski experiences and evening entertainment across Meribel Centre and Meribel Village. Torchlit descents are scheduled during the week, and live music in selected venues is adding to the holiday atmosphere once the lifts close.

Weather outlook as of: 23 February 2026. As I am sure you are aware, accurately forecasting weather more than two or three days ahead in the mountains is notoriously tricky. If there is a significant change we will update this section before the next full weekly snow report.

Snow Takeaway

Meribel is skiing well for late February, with the most consistent snow found above 2000 metres on the Mont Vallon and Tougnète sectors. Early starts will reward you with firmer pistes, while mid mountain slopes remain enjoyable into the afternoon. With a solid base and cooler conditions ahead, the outlook remains positive for the coming days.
