Winter holidays in Méribel are not just about skiing and energetic outdoor pursuits.
As a result, more and more hotels now offer luxurious spa facilities where you can unwind, be pampered or enjoy treatments. All are open to non-hotel guests by reservation. Here is our pick of the best.
Hotel Le Kaila, Méribel Centre
Méribel's newest hotel is the luxurious five-star Kaila located in the very centre of the resort. Its swanky spa offers the ultimate in facilities and beautiful contemporary design. The large indoor pool is filled with novel features such as a waterfall, swim jet, massaging seats and an air sofa, plus a Jacuzzi and a beach and bar. The Kaila’s Nuxe Spa offers a full range of indulgent treatments, including several designed for couples to enjoy together. Massages start at €85 for 25 minutes, and include Swedish-style massages for tired skiers, cranial and Ayurvedic massages. Pampering and beauty treatments are also offered to children and teenagers. The adjacent gym offers top of the range equipment. Note that these facilities are shared by the adjacent (and more affordable) 4-star La Chaudanne Hotel.
Hotel Allodis, Méribel Belvédère
Situated at the top of the resort in the swanky Belvédère area, Hotel Allodis has long been a Méribel favourite and its spa is highly rated. The wellness and fitness area includes an indoor pool, sauna, steam bath and gym, all with panoramic views over the valley. The Clarins Spa des Neiges, offers a wide range of massages and beauty treatments, including those tailored for mums-to-be, teenagers and men. Special offers for non-residents include a three-course lunch, massage and use of the facilities or a “Zen Morning” package of one treatment plus use of the facilities. The personalised gift vouchers make the ideal pampering gift for the reluctant skier in your life.
Grand Coeur & Spa, Méribel Centre
This is the grande dame of Méribel hotels, a traditional, cosy and discretely luxurious retreat in the centre of the village. The spa shares the same intimate atmosphere as the hotel with its wooden interior and peaceful atmosphere. Facilities include a steam room, sauna, 12-person Jacuzzi and fully-equipped gym. Massages are given by a qualified physiotherapist, and cost from €100 for 50 minutes. Lymphatic drainage, toning and slimming treatments, pregnancy and children’s treatments are all on offer. Specialities include Valmont anti-aging treatments and Bamford products. For non-residents, access to the spa is free when you book a massage, and note that treatments taken before 14:00 are considerably lower in cost.
Olympic Centre My Spa, Méribel Centre
Méribel’s sports centre, le Parc Olympique, offers a good value wellness area which is open every afternoon. My Spa’s spacious relaxation area has beautiful views over the valley and soothing music and light effects. There are separate men’s and women’s saunas and steam-rooms, and a shared Jacuzzi. Access to the area costs €20 or is free with a spa treatment. Treatments include massages (from €50), facials, epilation and manicures. The complex also contains a gym and a 25m pool, and hosts a range of fitness classes, but note these facilities are located separately from the wellness area. Week, month and season packages are available for the spa + pool or spa + gym, eg one week unlimited gym and spa use is €105.
Alpen Ruitor Hotel, Méribel Mottaret
This four-star hotel in the centre of the resort offers Mottaret’s only spa facilities. The Anne Sémonin spa features a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and sensory shower. Treatment include massages (from €55 for 25 minutes), facials, and treatments for mums-to-be and teenagers. For non-guests, access to the spa area is free with any treatment.
