Visitors will find several new and exciting places to eat and drink in the centre of Méribel this winter!

Barometer Bar, Meribel interior

Barometer Bar & Restaurant

Long-time favourite Barometer Bar has been transformed into a restaurant/bar with a smart, modern interior. It’s still a great place for a drink with an attractive bar area serving a good choice of beers on tap where you can watch major sporting events. The restaurant serves an interesting selection of dishes throughout the day, including crowd pleasers such as pizzas, traditional fish and chips and lamb shanks plus more modern dishes such as Thai beef/salmon salads. Make sure you leave room for the excellent white chocolate cheesecake! Barometer is located next to the Boulangerie in the centre of Méribel. Opening hours are 12:00 to 02:00.

Urban Sushi Restaurant, Santa Catalina (Arty District) style of cuisine

Sushi Shop

Méribel’s first Sushi bar is due to open this week. Situated next to Hotel Le Savoy, this SushiShop franchise will serve takeaway Japanese food that you can order in advance online. Their menu includes sushi, spring rolls, California rolls, maki, sashimi, tataki and Chirashi/Poke bowls.

Copina Bar Cocktail Classes, Meribel - Centre

Copiña Tapas Bar

Just opened last week is Copiña Tapas Bar. Here you will find Spanish-style tapas, made with Iberian-sourced ingredients, making it a great place for après-ski or a light meal. Located on the site of the former Le Rosset (and La Maison before that) just below the Tourist Office square, Copiña offers cocktails, craft beers and international wines. Opening hours are 17:00 to 02:00.

Les Close Up Restaurant, Meribel - Centre interior

Le Close-Up Restaurant

For a meal out with a difference, head to new restaurant Le Close-Up. After your dinner, owner/magician François will entertain you with close-up magic tricks performed at your table. And, at lunchtime, you can earn a discount on your bill if you succeed in solving one of his puzzles. While the entertainment is novel, the cuisine is traditional. French/Savoyard staples include salads, burgers, steaks, fondue and pierre chaude. Le Close-up is located 100m from the Tourist Office, in the Galerie des Cimes, on the first floor.

Le Monchu Restaurant, Meribel restaurant terrasse

Méribel also has a new mountain restaurant, Le Monchu, which replaces le Coeur de Crystal. Lying between the main Rhodos and Marmotte pistes leading into Méribel, this sun-trap terrace is a great place for lunch or après-ski. The bistro serves a varied menu with colourful starters, matured steaks, burgers, fish, salads, pizzas and Savoyard specialities. They also offer breakfasts and Sunday brunch (book in advance). It promises to be a great place for après-ski, with parties on Thursdays on the terrace. And if you’re wondering what the name means, it’s a local word meaning ‘the Parisian who comes to the mountain’.
