Fab Food & Daily Specials in the centre of Meribel

We dropped in for lunch to Evolution after a long morning on the MTB trails in Meribel.

They're in the centre of resort, close to where the mountain bike team pits are currently located for the Mountain Bike World Cup, and the main arena for trials riding and the cross country circuits.

We were met with friendly, helpful waiting staff who quickly brought us a much needed drink, and talked us through the menu.

I opted for the menu du jour which had a pate starter with caramelised onions and a rocket salad, then fish and chips for the main course and a chocolate orange cake for dessert. There were three options for the main course, but since I hadn't had proper fish and chips for over a year it was an easy call to make! The fish and chips came with a really generous portion of fries, a lovely piece of fish in a light batter, tartare sauce and delicious minty mushy peas.

My biking buddy, who's vegetarian, had the tagliatelle with fresh basil, olives and sun dried tomatoes, which was also a generous size.

Even though we'd been biking all morning and were ravenous when we got to Evolution, by the time we'd had our starter and mains there was no room left for the chocolate orange pudding! Our waitress very kindly foil wrapped it for us though, so that we could take it up on the mountain for an afternoon snack :-)

The menu du jour is a very reasonable 20 euros per person, and you even get butter with the bread on the table, a rarity in France!

This afternoon they've got a BBQ on from 2pm and live music from Bring your Sisters and Twin Peeks, so I'd definitely suggest you drop by and say hello to Jimmy and the team, and try some of their fab food.
