Last week my non-skiing parents came out to resort to visit. This was a nice excuse to try out many of the activities other than skiing on offer in the 3 Valleys. We went luging, on the ESF Snake Gliss, attended the ESF Snow and Fire show in Courchevel and enjoyed an après session at the Rond Point among other things.

Evolution Café Bar/Brasserie can be found near la Chaudanne. Whereas the resort abounds in restaurants serving local and French food, modern, innovative cooking is thin on the ground. Evolution cleverly meets a local need for top quality, modern international cuisine.
The Folie Douce is known for being the biggest party destination on the piste and a fantastic viewing extravaganza, however, it’s not just famed for its epic apres ski parties, there is also an outstanding restaurant with a menu that offers locally produced delicacies and a wealth of Savoyard specialities.

La Table du Ruitor restaurant is, in fact, three different restaurants. Depending on your preference and budget you can enjoy hearty local dishes at the ‘Coin Savoyard’; brasserie-style dishes taken either on the terrace overlooking the pistes or indoors; or yet more refined cuisine from Chef Christian Farenasso in the gastronomic restaurant.
The restaurant of the Auberge de Savoie goes hand in hand with the charming boutique hotel situated in Moutiers, just down the road from Meribel.
On a snowy evening in Méribel we took a short bus ride down to Meribel Village to La Terrasse du Village restaurant. The restaurant is part of the infamous après-ski venue, Lodge Du village and the classy dining counterpart.
A couple of weeks ago I sat down and had a long hard think about burgers. I thought about good burgers (no, not the 1997 Nickelodeon side splitter starring Kenan and Kel) and I thought about bad burgers and I put together a list of some of my favourites in Meribel.

This restaurant has long been a firm favourite with Méribel’s British visitors thanks to its fantastic location, reliably good food and invariably friendly service. It also boasts one of Méribel’s best piste-side, sunny dining terraces with great views over the valley. Sadly, on the day we visited the Rond Point, clouds were shrouding the valley, so instead of sunning ourselves outdoors we ate in the cosy, wooden restaurant under the eaves of the first floor. The service here is always excellent: the young and enthusiastic British staff were very friendly, and all is efficiently overseen by the Manager, Justin.
A warm and sunny February afternoon in Meribel doesn’t necessarily call for door to door skiing, in fact sometimes the ideal way to break up an exhausting day on the mountain is an afternoon piste-side a la carte meal at Le Rond Point.
This is a really popular hang-out spot and a real hidden gem. If you come for lunch, you may well be tempted into staying for apres and spend a fair few more hours here than you originally planned!
It may be cold outside as the snow falls this February but there’s no excuse to stay indoors and miss out on experiencing one of Mottaret’s best venues.
We dropped in for lunch to Evolution after a long morning on the MTB trails in Meribel.
With seating for up to 30 people in traditional, rustic surroundings, this is a great spot in the centre of Meribel for a tasty and reasonably priced lunch.

La Taverne is a rustic venue located in the very heart of Meribel and is both a busy pub and nightlife hotspot upstairs with a classy dining experience downstairs.
