Evolution Bar Restaurant Review

Good Food & Generous Portions at a Reasonable Price

By Matt Hein, Updated

This is a really popular hang-out spot and a real hidden gem. If you come for lunch, you may well be tempted into staying for apres and spend a fair few more hours here than you originally planned!

There's free WiFi and it's much cheaper to eat here than on the slopes, making it really popular with seasonnaires and families on holiday, plus it's a great meeting spot because of its location.

I sat on the terrace to have my lunch - it wasn't too cold, and when it's sunny it's a real sun-trap - hence its a great place to work on getting rid of those goggle marks!

The menu offers a broad selection of French, Italian and all the food looked well presented and came in good portions (not that I was eyeing up my neighbours dinners...) and it's great value for money too. I had the plat du jour and a coffee, which today was lamb shank, mashed potato and broccoli for 15 euros. The lamb was delicious - really juicy and cooked to perfection. Add to that a good bit of banter from Jimmy & Jez who run the place (and Jack's bar next door), and I left feeling very full and happy!

You'll find the restaurant 50m from the bottom of the slopes in the Chaudanne area.
