A new tea room-wine bar for Meribel centre

featured in News & reviews Author Caroline Sayer, Meribel Reporter Updated

Méribel centre now boasts a new place to get together, where you can sip tea and nibble on cakes during the afternoon, or enjoy a glass of wine and snacks in the evening. La Maison, a charmingly decorated tea rooms, provides a haven of peace compared with Méribel’s lively bars. It is the only such tea rooms in Méribel since the Glacier closed three winters ago. It has been opened by a popular local couple, Gérard and Brigitte, who formerly ran the Cro Magnon restaurant in Méribel 1600.

La Maison has been attractively furnished by Brigitte with pretty fabrics and quirky finds from brick-a-brack shops, and offers comfortable armchairs and low tables. On the bar you will find a selection of cakes to accompany the speciality teas, coffees and hot chocolate. Gerard has sourced interesting wines from around France, costing from just 4€ per glass and also available by the bottle. Delicious cheeses, pates and charcuterie are on offer too, to tempt you to linger a little longer. The friendly welcome from its two hosts will no doubt make this a very popular spot with locals and visitors alike. La Maison is located in the previous Home Deco shop, in the centre of Méribel, next to Agence des Neiges. It will open every afternoon and evening, and earlier in the day during bad weather.
