New Look for Meribel Town Centre

Pedestrian crossing, new speed limit & pavements with a non slip surface

The centre of Méribel is now a great deal more pedestrian-friendly and generally a nicer place for window-shopping, bar–hopping and market browsing.

The town hall has spent 846,000€ over the summer redesigning the main road (Montée de la Chaudanne) which links the main Chaudanne lift area with the town centre.

Pavements have been made much wider and given a non-slip surface. The road has been narrowed and traffic speed reduced to 30km/hr.

The road can now be closed off for special events with an automatic bollard. Finally, crossing the ‘take your life in your hands’ roundabout at the junction with la Chaudanne is a less risky business: the roundabout has been given a protected pedestrian crossing.
