3. Group ski lessons

This ski school offers group ski lessons for both children and adults, catering to all ability levels. Their group lessons provide a great and affordable way to improve your skiing in a safe, social and supportive environment.

The school’s small group sizes enable instructors to provide plenty of personalised feedback to each skier, allowing all group members to advance their skills effectively and efficiently.

Children’s group ski lessons have a maximum of just six children per class. Instructors focus on encouraging learning through enjoyment and fun, aiming to make the journey of learning to ski truly unforgettable. Structured lessons include a progress card and badge system to celebrate each child’s success.

Adult group ski lessons offer fantastic value for money, with small groups of just four to six students. These structured lessons combine technical explanations, quality demonstrations and personalised feedback, creating the perfect environment for improvement.

Parallel Lines is Méribel’s biggest British Ski and Snowboard School. With 28 instructors in peak weeks, whether you’re taking your first turns or exploring the off-piste that The Three Valleys has to offer.

The company have been delivering English speaking lessons for 17 years in Méribel. They attach great importance to employing only the highest qualified instructors, meaning that whether you’re a beginner or advanced, an adult or child, you still get the same great instruction from their hand-picked team.

With a focus on individual teaching, Parallel Lines have a maximum of eight people in group lessons and all lessons are taught in English to prevent any communication barriers between you and the instructor, but also between people within the groups.

Their friendly team specialise in group lessons for adults and children. Plus they have their own beginners area at the top of the Tougnete 1 lift for those of you just starting out.

Established in 1991, this ski and snowboard school was one of the first British-run ski schools in France. Their team is known for going the extra mile, offering excellent customer service and delivering outstanding lessons and guiding.

All instructors hold the BASI Level 4 International Ski Teaching Diploma or an internationally recognised equivalent.

Private ski lessons are a great alternative to group sessions, offering intensive and personalised learning tailored to your needs. Whether you're learning alone, with friends or family, or simply looking for a personal mountain guide, the experienced instructors will lead you to the best runs and provide high-quality technical feedback along the way.

Snowboarding lessons follow the same format as private ski lessons, allowing you to progress at your own pace. Whether you're linking turns for the first time or heading off-piste in search of powder, there's something on offer for every level.

Operating across the valley, this world-class team of ski instructors is available at convenient meeting points in Méribel.

This ski school brings together a handpicked team of instructors, each with a world-class background in snowsports. Every instructor has deep expertise in their speciality - skiing or snowboarding - along with a broad knowledge of the sport overall.

Lessons aren’t taught from scripts or templates. Instead, instructors adapt their teaching to your personal learning style, ensuring genuine progress in your technique and building lasting confidence on the slopes.

Group lessons are available for all ages and abilities:

  • Adult groups/shared lessons: flexible ski and snowboard sessions for one to five participants, available throughout the season. Simply book a private lesson and they convert it into a group lesson - additional participants joining earn you money back, just like a ride-share. Perfect for beginners, intermediate refreshers, confidence builders, advanced piste skills, bumps/moguls, and off-piste practice.
  • Junior groups: four-hour daily sessions during school holidays, running from one to five days. Designed for children aged six and up (younger children require prior arrangement), these lessons develop confidence and skills while making learning fun. Two levels are available:
    • Blue group: skiers learning basic parallel turns on green and easy blue runs.
    • Red group: experienced skiers refining a variety of parallel techniques on all pistes.
  • Academy groups: for juniors with top ski awards (eight or nine stars), focusing on piste performance, steeps, off-piste, bumps, and freestyle. Sessions also develop mountain awareness, safety skills, and respect for the alpine environment. Entry requires prior assessment via junior red groups or a private lesson to confirm ability level.

In addition to group sessions, the ski school also offers private lessons, off-piste guiding, specialised bumps and moguls classes, full moon ski tours, and alpine touring courses for adults. As long as you’re comfortable on all pistes, you’re ready to join.

Since its creation in 1945 by a group of instructors from the valley, this ski school has grown to become one of the largest in France. All 450 instructors are professionals, trained at the National School of Skiing and Alpinism in Chamonix. They have extensive knowledge of the Méribel and Three Valleys ski area and are passionate about sharing their love of skiing and the mountains. Whatever your level, age, or goals, skiing with them is sure to be a pleasure. English-speaking instructors are available to ensure there are no communication barriers.

Private ski lessons are available for all ages, including children from three years old. In a private lesson, you can explore the ski area at your own pace with an expert instructor. You will make rapid progress and quickly gain confidence, whether you choose alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle, telemark, off-piste, or cross-country skiing. Children’s group lessons are especially popular. With years of experience, instructors know how to strike the perfect balance between fun and learning. Each group has a maximum of just six children, allowing for plenty of individual feedback in a safe and supportive environment.

Adult group ski lessons, for those aged fifteen and over, offer excellent value for money. With a maximum of four adults per group, they feel more like shared private lessons than standard group sessions. You can expect personalised feedback, structured progression and high-quality demonstrations throughout.

Children’s lessons

Children begin in the safe and fun environment of the snow garden before moving on to the nursery slopes under the careful supervision of their instructor. Younger children can join:

  • Saturnins nursery for ages 18 months to three years.
  • Club Piou Piou for three to five-year-olds, with half- or full-day sessions, with or without lunch. At the end of their stay, children receive a Club Piou Piou medal.

Mini Club Piou Piou (three to four years):

This club introduces children to skiing in a fun and enjoyable way, helping them take their first steps on the snow.

Club Piou Piou (four to five years):

Instructors focus on building balance, confidence, and basic skiing skills, ensuring the learning experience remains playful and rewarding.

Group options for teens:

A variety of lessons and camps are available for teenagers, including freestyle, snowpark, and competition courses.

Group lessons for adults:

Adult group lessons are a fun way to meet others while improving your technique. Groups are organised by ability level, from beginner to advanced, and focus on a friendly, playful learning environment. Snowboarding groups are also available, with a maximum of ten participants to ensure individual attention.

13. Group ski lessons

Children's group lessons

Their children group lessons are based on making learning to ski fun and are limited to eight children per group for the best learning experience.

They fill children’s group lessons with fun and engaging games and activities to encourage a positive attitude to all-things-ski. That’s why, from their first steps on the slopes to top tricks in the park, their friendly instructors and jam-packed lessons are almost guaranteed to leave your tots and teens hungry for more.

This school acknowledges that every child is different, so they divide lessons and groups by ability and age, teaching solely in English and keep group sizes small. Lesson times and lengths vary.

Kids from four years old will love group ski lessons. For four to five year olds, Snowbear lessons are perfect to give them their first experience of sliding on snow in small groups of six kids per instructor.

For 5 to 12 year olds, ski lessons are centred around fun games and activities so they learn to ski whilst enjoying themselves. Lessons are limited to 8 children per instructor for a more personalised learning experience in the best learning environment.

Teen group ski lessons

Advanced teenage skiers from 12 years old looking for adventure can join the Pro Rider lessons. On the menu: snowpark, freestyle, steeps and off-piste, all taught with safety in mind.

Adult group ski lessons

Whether you are a beginner or want to hone your skills, we have the right group ski lessons for you. Improve your technique and gain confidence. For optimum progression in a friendly environment we limit groups to eight participants per instructor.

Group snowboard lessons

They offer group lessons for beginner to advanced snowboarders. Lessons are open to everyone from age eight. The instructors will have you shredding in now time. For ultimate progression our lessons are limited to eight participants per instructor.

14. Private ski coaching

This ski school provides excellent private tuition for "private" groups which can be composed of your children, friends or your whole family.

The exact pricing depends on the size of your group (eight people maximum for regular ski lessons or up to six for off-piste) and the dates you'll be skiing.

16. Private snowboard lessons

This fantastic independent snowboard school is run by a small team of English snowboard instructors who are based in Meribel and Courchevel.

They have a real passion for snowboarding and will easily be able to help you develop your skills whatever level you are, with fun, easy to understand techniques.

The instructors all hold the top British Snowboarding qualifications and all have full French equivalence. Since English is their native tongue there are no language barriers. They bring together years of teaching experience from around Europe, New Zealand, Argentina and the UK. They work for BASI, the British Association of Snowsports Instructors, training and examining up and coming snowboard instructors. They are also qualified to take you off piste.

Whether you just fancy getting away for a day, a few afternoons or new places each day for a week, they can take you there. There is nothing like getting away from the crowds and as the Three Valleys is the biggest ski area in the world, there is plenty to go and see!
