Meribel Apartment Building Badly Damaged by Fire

Firemen were called yesterday evening to a major fire at Chanrossa apartment building in Méribel 1600.

The blaze lasted several hours during which time the roof and upper apartments were entirely destroyed.

Firemen were still on the scene this morning making the building safe. A fireman in attendance said nobody was injured and that the cause of the blaze was not known.

A resident of a nearby apartment block said workmen had been repairing the roof with a blowtorch earlier in the day.

Thankfully the pompiers were able to stop the spread of fire to neighbouring buildings, and no-one was harmed.
