Ski Hosting Suspended in Three Valleys

UK Tour Operators to Postpone Service for Guests

featured in News & Reviews Author Sophie Nicholson, Meribel Editor Updated

Following an incident in Courchevel last week, a group of UK tour operators have suspended the ski hosting service they offer to guests on holiday in the Three Valleys.

Crystal Ski, Skiworld and Thomson have decided to suspend hosting services in the area after local French police stopped a group of UK skiers in Courchevel last week and questioned their Meribel based ski hosts.

Ski hosting is where a trained rep from a holiday company skis with guests to help familiarise them with the ski area. A legal case is currently taking place in France against a small UK ski operator as the authorities claim that the service is illegal due to the ski hosts not being sufficiently qualified to take groups onto the slopes under French law.

A court ruling is due to be given on February the 18th.
