Subaru Biathlon Challenge
Watch elite athletes take part in a biathlon competition
Rendezvous in Méribel on the Nordic area of the Altiport for the Subaru Biathlon Challenge on the 19th and 20th January.
Biathlon combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting (.22 long rifle) from a distance of 50 metres in 2 different positions : lying down and standing up. This is a dual challenge : being able to surpass yourself during the cross-country skiing and follow on a session of rifle shooting in total apnea while your heart beats at more than 170 times per minute!
Few sports require a such level of self control and engagement : the main interest of the discipline is to alternate between a state of intense effort and phases of calm and concentration in which precision is decisive. The mass start and relay races are promising big shows in Méribel!
