All instructors hold the BASI Level 4 International Ski Teaching Diploma or an internationally recognised equivalent.

Parallel Lines is Méribel’s biggest British Ski and Snowboard School. With 28 instructors in peak weeks, whether you’re taking your first turns or exploring the off-piste that The Three Valleys has to offer, Parallel Lines can provide fantastic lessons designed around you.

The company have now been delivering English speaking lessons for 17 years in Méribel. They attach great importance to employing only the highest qualified instructors, meaning that whether you’re a beginner or advanced, an adult or child, you still get the same great instruction from their hand-picked team. Having been in the Three Valleys for 17 years now, and with many of their instructors having been based here for years, they know the valley inside out, meaning that they can guide you to the best runs depending on the weather and conditions.

Tailor-make your own clinic to allow your instructor to focus on your skiing, as an individual or small group. Your private lessons can focus on confidence building, off piste exploring, technical tips, ski with control and style. Plus they have their own beginners area at the top of the Tougnete 1 lift for those of you just starting out.

Run by an Anglo-French team since 2001, this ski school knows the Three Valleys inside out. Their highly qualified, multilingual instructors specialise in tailor-made lessons designed to suit every skier or snowboarder.

5. Private ski lessons

This ski school is the largest in France and one of the oldest, having been established in 1945. Offering a wide range of private lessons they can ensure the needs of your entire family/group are met.

Since its creation in 1945 by a group of instructors from the valley, this ski school has grown to become one of the largest in France. All 450 instructors are professionals, trained at the National School of Skiing and Alpinism in Chamonix. They have extensive knowledge of the Méribel and Three Valleys ski area and are passionate about sharing their love of skiing and the mountains. Whatever your level, age, or goals, skiing with them is sure to be a pleasure. English-speaking instructors are available to ensure there are no communication barriers.

Private ski lessons are available for all ages, including children from three years old. In a private lesson, you can explore the ski area at your own pace with an expert instructor. You will make rapid progress and quickly gain confidence, whether you choose alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle, telemark, off-piste, or cross-country skiing. Lessons are available for individuals or for groups of up to eight friends or family members of similar ability, making them ideal for those who want to fast-track their skills.

7. Private ski coaching

This ski school provides excellent private tuition for "private" groups which can be composed of your children, friends or your whole family.

The exact pricing depends on the size of your group (eight people maximum for regular ski lessons or up to six for off-piste) and the dates you'll be skiing.

9. Private snowboard lessons

This fantastic independent snowboard school is run by a small team of English snowboard instructors who are based in Meribel and Courchevel.

They have a real passion for snowboarding and will easily be able to help you develop your skills whatever level you are, with fun, easy to understand techniques.

The instructors all hold the top British Snowboarding qualifications and all have full French equivalence. Since English is their native tongue there are no language barriers. They bring together years of teaching experience from around Europe, New Zealand, Argentina and the UK. They work for BASI, the British Association of Snowsports Instructors, training and examining up and coming snowboard instructors. They are also qualified to take you off piste.

Whether you just fancy getting away for a day, a few afternoons or new places each day for a week, they can take you there. There is nothing like getting away from the crowds and as the Three Valleys is the biggest ski area in the world, there is plenty to go and see!

Michael and Martin are both fully qualified (BASI Level 4 - International) British ski instructors who have over 20 years teaching experience in the Three Valleys and are perfectly placed to show you the best parts of this ski domain suited to your level.

Whether you are clicking on skis for the very first time or you’re a black run junkie, they can help you take your skiing to the next level. As they both started skiing as young adults, they remember the emotions involved in the experience of learning to ski, enabling them to tailor their teaching to your exact needs so that you can make lasting breakthroughs in your skiing performance.

If you would like an introduction to off-piste skiing without any gung-ho attitude, then look no further. The emphasis at this level is on safety, your ski ability and technique, plus mountain conditions and risk assessment. They can also provide tuition in safety training, including avalanche beeps searches.

They teach individuals, families and small groups of friends. If you are planning to learn with family members or friends, it is advisable that you are all of a similar level to get the most out of your time on the mountain. They offer full weeks, full days, half days (mornings or afternoons) of ski tuition.

11. Private Ski Lessons

This company of mountain guides are experts with plenty of experience when it comes to the local terrain. They have 30 highly trained professional guides who are keen to share their skills with you and ensure you have enjoyable time on the mountain. You could not be in safer hands when it comes to discovering off piste in the Three Valleys.

The Bureau des Guides in Meribel offer off-piste private lessons for individuals or groups of family and friends. You can be a complete beginner at off-piste or a confident skier/boarder, they will show you the routes best suited to your ability.

They run itineraries in Courchevel Les Avals, Meribel Les Rafforts and Les Menuires.

You can hire a guide for your group from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for €420. The rate includes all the safety gear that you will need (transceiver, shovel and probe).

The Bureau des Guides also offer other winter activities including heli-skiing and ice climbing as well as numerous summer activities
